Hi, I’m Jessie!

When I’m not photographing families, I’m living out my van-life nomadic dreams in my self-converted Sprinter van (since 2022). I’ve always loved to travel, but now I’m learning to travel in a completely different way with my adventure cat, Raz.

Why documentary family photography?

While I was in college studying photography, I also worked as a nanny in NYC to pay the bills. I love working with kids, but being a care-giver to young children changed how I viewed parenthood. First of all, it was so thoroughly exhausting. I’ve had hard jobs before, but nothing compares to the physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion of caring for young children. And even though I deeply love photographing, it was hard to find the energy most days get out my camera and take a photo of the kids. To this day, I have so few photos with the kids I nannyed. They also change so fast, it’s difficult to remember all the little jokes and phrases and phases.

I started looking more at my own family archives, and noticing how my favorite photos always have my young parents in the frame. Every time I find a new photo from those days, it’s an instant family treasure.

I want to give that same gift to my clients and their families, and I’m so grateful this is my job.

“I found that the camera was a comforting companion. It opened up new worlds, and gave me access to people’s most intimate moments. I discovered the privilege of seeing life in all its complexity, the thrill of learning something new everyday. When I was behind a camera, it was the only place in the world I wanted to be.” - Lynsey Addario
