Schedule your Newborn session before your baby arrives | Hudson Valley Newborn Photographer

When your little one arrives, you’re going to love every single phone photo you take (and those are some really special photos too). And once you’re settling in at home and adjusting to new routines, feedings, sleep schedules and the carousel of visitors… scheduling newborn photos is not going to feel like an easy task. And the window for newborn photos is finite (they grow crazy fast!).

But you’ll never regret having someone document these first few days at home, with everyone in the frame.

Just a few notes about newborn photography …

• there’s several different styles of newborn photography, and some require the session to be within days of delivery (like a fresh 48 session). you’ll want to choose a style you like, and secure the photographer is available, so schedule it early to get your first choice!

• you’re probably going to be sleep deprived during the first few days… and you may not remember a lot of the details. Photos help fill those gaps.

• just to normalize it, I don’t think anyone feels particularly glamorous or excited to jump in front of a camera right after bringing a human into this world. it’s exhausting, beautiful work. you’ll be your happiest, but also your most sleep deprived. But after some time has passed, you’ll love having photos of those moments… even if you don’t feel like it now. It’s the beginning of your child’s story, document all of it.
